Job Description Summary

Enterprise Data and Analytics Services (EDAS) group manages the enterprise data warehouse platforms and Business Intelligence/Analytics services which provide data for the Bank’s internal and external reporting needs as well as for data-driven analysis to support the Bank’s strategic initiatives. A Senior Technical Analyst who has the technical data analytical skills to solve complex problems, and the intellectual curiosity to explore what problems need to be addressed.

The Senior Technical Analyst will be working in the Data Management Acceleration Program (DMAP) assisting in delivering key objectives and MVP items from a technology perspective. This entails technology and processes that support delivery of metadata and lineage for approx. 35 Risk/Regulatory Reports, establishing operational efficiency for data provisioning by defining and applying metadata management and data quality IT processes and procedures, assessing necessary technology applications and infrastructure needed to implement Metadata Management Services best practices, and executing the analysis and configuration of workflows and tools to deliver the required level of automation.

Will be responsible for analysis, supporting development leveraging ETL, SQL, and Cloudera (Big data) technologies as wells a driving and providing direction in technical areas for data and metadata management solutions using agile (Kanban/Scrum) practices.

Essential Job Functions

Support our Enterprise Data Management & Solutions group and external consultants in the implementation of IT solutions to support the discovery and governance of data ownership, flows, and controls for DMAP initiatives.

  • Reverse engineer ETL logic needed to construct the lineage and data flows for regulatory reports within DMAP scope.

  • Determine how best to leverage and integrate our various metadata management tools (e.g. BigID, Atlas, Abacus, and Collibra) to deliver functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Where necessary develop custom solutions or scripts to support automation of manual processes and/or documents to be integrated with 3 rd party platforms (includes configuration, testing, and deployment).

  • Be an IT liaison with our business partners providing technical guidance and recommendations on solution proposals that meet business requirements.

Other Job Duties

  • Establishes data quality process, governance, and issue tracking process tools.

  • Works with business and IT partners to remediate identified gaps using both manual and automated solutions.

  • Establishes processes to continuously monitor data quality. Ensures processes are in place to proactively detect, correct, and prevent invalid data values.

  • Provides leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise, thus affecting the results of the operating area.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Experience

  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time.

  • Knowledge of design techniques and principles involved in producing diagrams, models, and workflows.

  • 2-3 years of experience with data warehousing and analysis technologies (e.g. SQL, Informatica Power Center (ETL), Power BI, Tableau, Python, Spark, Hadoop/Big Data, etc.).

  • 2-3 years of fundamental understanding or experience in Data Governance and Stewardship, Data Quality, and Metadata Management.

  • Experience with data profiling, data mapping, and systems analysis.

  • 1-2 years of experience with Agile techniques and tools; user stories, backlog grooming, Jira, Confluence, etc.

  • Previous software development experience, working within a team of architects, modelers, database developers and engineers to design and deliver data solutions.

  • Requires deep knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

  • Typically viewed as a specialist within discipline.

  • May have broad knowledge of project management.

  • Requires 7 years minimum prior relevant experience.



  • Bachelor's Degree


  • Experience working in Banking or Financial Services environments;

  • Ability to learn new technologies and be an advocate for technology improvements.

  • Experience in Big Data technology stack.

  • Working knowledge, understanding, or experience with metadata management tools such as Collibra, Erwin, BigID, etc.

  • Experience with CI/CD implementation (GitLab, Ansible etc)

  • When required comfortable to function as a Business Systems Analyst facing off to business partners to understand requirements, translate to technical needs, perform information management and integration assessments.

  • BIDM Independently provides feedback to data architects on architecture and high/low-level design documents, making suggested changes if/where necessary.

  • Responsible for creation of (1) source-to-target mappings and (2) business definitions of required data and data transformations.
