Job Description Summary

The Escrow Specialist I is responsible for ensuring all escrowed items are paid in a timely manner. In addition, the Specialist handles optional insurance balancing for the billing, upgraded customer issues, loss claims processing, and research. The Specialist also monitors loans for flood insurance and lender placed insurance. The Escrow Specialist ensures the operation of the Escrow department stays compliant with regulatory requirements and updates policies and procedures as necessary.

Perform assigned functions within Escrow flood Administration timely and accurately while remaining compliant with all state, federal and investor guidelines.

Essential Job Functions

  • Flood Insurance Tracking: Process incoming flood insurance policies. Review each renewing flood insurance policy, cancelation or amendment to ensure proper flood insurance coverage is maintained.

  • Document and communicate insurance cancellation and renewal issues with customers and lenders to ensure that proper insurance coverage is maintained at all times.

  • Review all loan applications secured by real estate located within a Special Flood Hazard Area to determine the amount of flood insurance required and that the correct policy is obtained to ensure that all bank and federal regulations are met. Facilitate communication between lenders, customers and insurance personnel to maintain cohesive understanding of specific requirements and proper documentation for each loan closing.

  • Complete payment processing for loans that escrow flood insurance. Work with the insurance agents to ensure proper billing.

  • Forced Placed Insurance Review each insurance policy as it cancels or expires to ensure proper coverage is maintained. Communicate insurance issues with customers and lenders, following state and federal regulations. Force placed insurance when necessary. Process monthly forced placed insurance reconciliation, refunds, and renewals.

  • Maintains a working level knowledge of rules, rates, regulations and procedures of the National Flood Insurance Program and the company’s admitted surplus products.

Other Job Duties

  • Monitors new loan escrow line setup.

  • Researches and responds to customer inquiries received by phone or mail.

  • Acts as an informational resource within the department, for other departments.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Requiresbroad knowledge of operational systems and practices typically gainedthrough extensive experience and/or education.

  • Requires5 years minimum experience mortgage loan servicing experience preferably in Realestate taxes, homeowners insurance, flood, Mortgageor an equivalent combination of education and experience. Open and receptive to change and must have the ability to operate in afast paced environment.

  • Capableproblem solver with an analytical mind sent and excellent organizationalskills

  • Abilityto work independently, successfully prioritize multiple functions and meetdeadlines.

  • Possessgood written and verbal communications skills.Positive attitude and a customer centricfocus.

  • Mayrequire vocational or technical education in addition to prior workexperience.

Education

  • HighSchool Diploma or GED Required

  • Proficientknowledge of RESPA guidelines as well as other agency guidelines andrequirements (e.g.

  • HOPA)as it applies to mortgage servicing.
