Job Description Summary

Responsible for assisting management in the planning, development and implementation of assigned program level activities and support the second line programs associated with enterprise risk management for Bank of the West. This role will coordinate with various businesses across the Bank including Operational Risk and Compliance.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Works with other risk management and control functions to lead and facilitate various projects and or initiatives as they arise.

  2. Drive the build out the common enterprise Risk Management Program processes in support of the Internal Control Charter and known industry best practices, including, but not limited to: refinement to the standards, governance and oversight structure.

  3. Escalates material issues to management for transparency and active risk management.

  4. Assist with the refinement of the foundation for risk quantification and measurement through common Key Risk Indicators and an understanding of Bank of the West’s risk appetite in alignment with regulatory expectations and management needs to effectively measure the Program’s effectiveness.

  5. Assess key risks and existing 2 nd line frameworks to ensure prudent risk management in alignment with Bank of the West’s business strategy and overall risk profile

  6. Participate in strategic planning sessions and other initiatives (Enterprise Risk Management Working Group) with regards to Enterprise Risk Management Program Development and integration.

Assigned responsibility for broad areas of the Bank's Enterprise Risk Management function, ensures assigned areas are well designed, looks for and implements continuous process improvement, is a subject matter expert in their areas, and able to communicate/educate others on the process.

Qualifications

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration) or the equivalent combination of education and experience - Required

· MBA preferred

· Required License(s) or Certifications - Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

· Requires deep knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Typically viewed as a specialist within the identified discipline. May have broad knowledge and experience in project management discipline with proved results.

· Requires 5-7 years minimum prior in a risk discipline within financial services.
