Job Description Summary

Seeking experienced Senior Lead Business Analyst to be the ‘Data Community Manager’ for the ‘Master & Reference Data Working Group’. This is an individual contributor role, where you will be coordinating, influencing, and partnering with various other BOW team members associated with the ‘Data Community’ (likely 20 different members). The ‘Master & Reference Data Working Group’, is responsible for managing both ‘Master’ and ‘Reference’ data concepts enterprise wide.

Overall, the ‘Data Community’ will need to be formally created and blessed by the Enterprise Data Management governance team. It will have to follow the specified meeting cadence, frameworks, policies, and standards provided.

For ‘Master’ data concepts (there are 18 defined), activities will include:

  • Formalizing ‘Master’ data definitions across the organization (gaining consensus)

  • Soliciting approvals for those definitions

  • Maintaining those definitions through a change control process

  • Identifying how those definitions get adopted, through maintaining a roadmap, defining who’s accountable for each deliverable, and tracking status.

  • Acting a central place to notify ‘Data Community’ of change occurring in the Data Eco System that could impact these areas.

  • Identifying key processes related to each ‘Master’ data item that should be in scope for the community and helping to facilitate the 14 step process to manage that ‘process’.

For ‘Reference’ data concepts (picklists, cross reference lists, etc. / thousands of lists), activities will include:

  • Partnering with the Reference Master Platform manager to showcase roadmap and help align to any key processes from ‘Master’ data space.

  • Acting as a central place to notify ‘Data Community’ of new lists being added or deployed for usage across the organization.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the implementation of the Data Management strategy within the in scope Data Community

  • Leads business analysis tasks as required to support the reporting workstream contribution to the EDMS processes and endeavors – this may entail, but not limited to, quantitative analysis, data consolidation and crunching, writing process documentation, writing business requirements or functional specifications, contributing to internal reporting processes, contributing to project planning & reporting processes

  • Bring community needs to adequate teams for implementation. Ensure a transversal view of data requirements, definition controls and usage along its lifecycle for their Data Community

  • Oversees implementation of data governance by Business Lines / Functions (data domains) that impact their Data Community

  • Sets up meetings, conducts meetings, and drives process to gain consensus across functions / lines of business on ‘master’ definitions and adoption plans

  • Analyzes different data sets to help identify how different lists for the same ‘master’ data topic area can be collapsed.

  • Prepares presentations for all levels of staff / management

  • Updates SharePoint information related to ‘master’ data definitions – maintains the overall “Data Community” SharePoint site.

  • Creates / maintains roadmaps for adoption of ‘master’ data definitions

  • Creates and communicates progress in adoption and managing issues to conclusion.

  • Ensure all artifacts generated in the process of managing this ‘Data Community’ are Audit quality / all definitions, plans, etc. will have Audit oversight and be leveraged on-going.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers and subject matter experts.



  • Requires in-depth knowledge of job area typically obtained through higher level education combined with work experience.

  • Typically viewed as the Subject Matter Expert (SME).

  • Requires 10 years minimum prior relevant experience.

  • Requires 5 years of SQL (MS SQL, Oracle, or Teradata)

  • Requires 5 years of experience with relational databases, data marts, etc.

  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Requires familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint capabilities / usages

  • Experience working in banking and good business knowledge and familiarity with consumer/small business/commercial banking products


  • Bachelor’s Degree-required (in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar degree)


  • Must be highly detailed oriented. Must enjoy being immersed in ‘data’ and enjoy digging and tracing data for answers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with thoroughness and attention to detail

  • Strong execution / ‘get it done’ skills

  • Must have solid organizational skills, with the ability to handle complex projects in a multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines with quality results.

  • Ability to develop open, considerate, effective and productive working relationships with customers, external contacts and individuals

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing, business requirement proposals, client interaction, and methodology documentation.

  • Knowledge of change management and software development life cycle practices (SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall helpful).

  • Understanding and application of principles, standards, industry practices, techniques and concepts, as well as contributing to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards.

  • Understanding on ‘data controls’, documentation, and implementation techniques.

  • Prior experience working with large implementation projects would be beneficial for the candidate.
