Achieving operational resilience and managing the related risks requires the development and interplay of the five key resilience capabilities, which include Business Continuity, Cyber Resilience, IT Continuity and Resilience, Third Party Resilience and Crisis Management.
The successful delivery and management of the broader operational resilience program requires a vast array of capabilities, skills and competencies. These capabilities, skills and competencies traverse the organization and must converge to achieve and sustain a desired level of operational resilience. The primary stakeholders responsible for the successful delivery of an operational resilience program are leaders from the program or functional units across business lines, the Business Continuity Management program, Information Technology, Information Security, Physical Security, Procurement and Supply Management, Operational Risk Management and Third Party Risk Management. Managing operational resilience must be aligned with and supportive of the achievement of the organization’s strategic objectives. Focusing on these objectives provides the rationale for investing in resilience activities—because they enable the organization to achieve its mission.
