Job Description Summary

Responsible for ensuring daily activities of liaising and interacting with the Bank's regulators follows established standards and occurs in a consistent and efficient manner. Involved with the regulatory activities related to BancWest.

Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborates with department manager to build strong relationships with all applicable regulators; ensuring the facilitation of regulator's understanding of the holding company and Bank's business strategy and regulatory issues.

  • Tracks and monitors regulatory issues and the status of open exam/inspection issues at all levels.

  • Oversees the submission of information requests for scheduled reviews and quarterly, monthly, and ad-hoc requests made by the regulators.

  • Prepares periodic reporting for the Board and senior management regarding regulatory commitments and recommendations.

  • Recommends efficiencies in coordinating with regulators and in the way information is provided to regulators and used for internal needs (e.g. regulatory calendar, summary/themes of regulatory requests, what's sent to regulatory, who interacts with regular

  • Assists in the coordination of regulatory activities related to BNPP's aggregated operations.

  • Escalates any matter including a potential or threatened legal or regulatory proceeding or investigation that involves a significant legal, regulatory, or reputation risk as appropriate.

  • Ensures that the Regulatory Relations Officer is kept apprised of regulatory requests including both status and resolution.

  • May manage a team of regulatory officers.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Requires mastery level knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

  • May have deep knowledge of project management.

  • Requires 10 years minimum prior relevant experience.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

Skills

  • Superior knowledge of banking rules and regulations (e.g., FDIC and Federal Reserve). Demonstrated ability to work independently and be a self starter in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative and good at building and leveraging relationships.

  • Superior communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate initiatives to resolve regulatory findings as required.

  • Strong skills related to tracking and inventorying numerous documents.

  • Minimum 5 - 7 years’ experience working for a regulatory agency, banking organization, or law firm handling banking regulatory matters Build and maintain awareness of current and in-process regulatory requirements with likely impact to BancWest and the Bank.

  • Understand and analyze regulatory developments with eye toward communication of potential impacts to key stakeholders.

  • Outlines BancWest document management strategy, including maintenance of a centralized repository of policies and other BancWest documents.

  • Assess, develop and maintain proper controls, documentation (related to BancWest regulatory and governance), and change management approach for impacted areas.
