Job Description Summary

Responsible for managing the Financial Reporting

function, which focuses on the Bank's Head office reporting, annual audited

financial statements, as well as any related ad-hoc requests for our shareholder,

BNP Paribas, S.A. Also responsible for the creation and maintenance of the

necessary control infrastructure. Will manage a team of staff handling the

current production process. In addition, the role will be responsible for

ensuring an awareness of proposed GAAP and IFRS changes and their potential

impact to the Bank's financial reporting processes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages all activities related to financial reportingfor the Bank. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of all requiredreporting.

  • Maintain and execute plan to leverage the Bank'sfinance technology infrastructure to automate materially the productionover its financial reports. Ensure alignment of these requirements withcomplementary organizational reporting processes and flexibility.

  • Partner with Bank of the West Finance leadership teamto meet all reporting objectives in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Review (and remediate gaps, as necessary) the controlinfrastructure associated with the financial reporting production process.Ensure controls impact for all changes are understood and accounted for priorto completion. Partner with stakeholders "upstream" of theprocess and the Corporate Internal Controls team to ensure appropriatecontrols are in place for inputs to financial reporting deliverables.

  • Acquire, develop, motivate and retain top talent, providinga high level of mentorship that creates a world-class environment thatstimulates problem-solving and identifies and develops improved businesspractices.

  • Collaborate with Bank of the West finance andoperational personnel across the organization to promote and strengthenthe company-wide Financial Reporting function, through a focus on people,process and performance.

  • Develop and deliver bank-wide training program focusedon raising the level of organizational understanding of Financial reportingrequirements. Assess stakeholder understanding of responsibilities andpartner with them to address any identified gaps.

  • Ensure ability of results to reconcile to otherreported values (including GAAP-focused reporting outputs).

Other Job Duties

  • Liaise with the department, business units, FinanceTechnology team and Corporate IT on an ongoing basis for project andongoing responsibilities

  • Oversee ad-hoc projects, as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Requires practical knowledge in leading and managingthe execution of processes, projects and tactics within one area.

  • Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within aspecific technical or professional discipline with understanding of theimpact of work on other areas of the organization.

  • Requires 10 years minimum prior relevant experience.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Finance or related field.

Skills

  • Good knowledge of Accounting and Finance functionwithin financial services industry, including unique requirements for bothCorporate and Business Line stakeholders.

  • Strong Internal Controls Background (SOX) in aFinancial Institution.

  • Strong experience in assessing an organization,developing and executing on a road map to improve processes/outcomes.

  • Strong team building/development skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, motivate and retaintalented employees.

  • Working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS ReportingRequirements.

  • Good working knowledge of Basel III standards andconcepts (including Market, Credit, and Operational Risk) is desirable.

  • Preferred prior experience managing compleximplementation projects.

  • Must have solid organizational skills, with the abilityto handle multiple competing priorities in a multi-tasking environment andmeet deadlines with quality results.

  • Exposure to relevant technologies used within theFinance / Accounting space (Hyperion, GL systems, loan / investmentsub-ledgers, data warehouse / marts, etc.).
