Job Description Summary
The primary objective of this role is to lead the Bank of the West Data Governance and Quality program within a line of business. This might include establishing a new function within the Data Organization focused on developing and implementing a data quality framework, set standards for measurement, and senior level and executive level communication of results. This role reports into the Data Governance Head for the line of business and will interact with and influence several cross functional teams.
Essential Job Functions
Develop and implement standards for data quality that ensures reliability and accessibility to support the mission and activities of the bank
Lead Data Quality efforts as part of the overall data controls framework partnering with cross-functional activities across Program Management, Business Lines, and Enterprise Data Governance & Management etc.
Drive actionable data governance across the line of business’s project portfolio.
Establish a data stewardship workflow and communication program with stakeholders for the remediation of data;
Partner with technology to implement “best in class” tools and analytics that will further provide insight to data quality problems leading to remediation efforts
Further develop the Issue Management and Resolution function into a “Business as Usual” process. This includes data stewardship alignment on data quality issues, remediation plans, and developing enhanced business processes to meet the needs of cross functional teams.
Work closely with business lines to develop data quality measures and practices to improve the line of business data and to protect bank’s sensitive information
Work with the technology team to support data management policies and practices
Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one area.
Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.
Requires 10 years minimum prior relevant experience.
- Bachelor's Degree Finance or Related Discipline
Experience in Finance, Risk & Operations related data projects Project experience with: Transformation: current state assessment, future state recommendation and developing a roadmap to data quality and governance
Familiarity with Basel II & III, Basel Data requirements, CCAR, a plus
Delivery of finance, risk and other data transformation programs across retail, commercial and/or investment banking
Implementation of data sourcing and warehouse technologies including MDM
Previous experience with technology architecture strategy, design and plans
Understanding of current events impacting the Financial Services Industry and implications on Data Management
Ability to interact effectively with senior-level client executives
Demonstrated leadership in professional setting
Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting
Strong understanding of data governance concepts and best practices.
Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
Must be capable of setting expectations with clients and reporting staff
Must be able to work across multiple client levels effectively
Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
