This role will support all internal and external communications

for Bank of the West’s chief executive officer (CEO).

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, this role

will create a strategically aligned full-year program plan of all

internal/external events and speaking commitments as well as working in

partnership with our content strategist to help develop thought leadership

content to promote the CEO’s point of view. The role will support planning,

in-depth messaging, comprehensive briefing packages, support speeches and

written content for the CEO, as well as developing a voice within the context

of the banks overall brand, mission, values and strategic priorities.


This role will be highly visible and the ideal candidate will be

comfortable in a high-performing, fast-paced, confidential, high-pressure

environment and will have integrity and a commitment to quality along with

superb written and editorial skills.


  • Manage high-profile executive and critical communications andmaterials including: announcements, video scripts, speeches, talking points,and thought leadership.

  • Create full briefing materials for communications-focused tripsand events

  • Innovate and collaborate with groups in Marketing &Communications including events, social media/PR, sponsorships,brand/advertising, and content strategy on strategic and creative projects

  • Work in partnership with the CEO’s chief of staff, contentstrategist, and executive assistant to manage the CEO’s calendar related tointernal/external speaking opportunities

  • Work with other members of the Executive Management Committeeand staff when appropriate



  • Minimum 10 years of experience in communications with a significantportion dedicated to executive counsel, speech writing, public relations, andsupport.

  • Experience within Financial Services preferred.

  • Strong written communication skills and ability to distill andconvey information in a compelling manner; ability to adopt leader voice.

  • Experience working with C-level executives and across a matrixedorganization.

  • Flexibility to manage long-range plans and rapid turnaroundrequests, as well as strategic work to detailed logistics

  • Detail-oriented organizational and process management skills tomanage a wide range of incoming requests and responsibilities.

  • Emotional intelligence and ability to establish strong andtrusting relationships.

  • Strong business acumen; including experience in financialservices.
