Job Description Summary

Responsible for defining the interaction design solutions for Bank of the West's digital user experiences. Collaborates with internal and external partners to affect the overall experience across user touch points.

Essential Job Functions

  • Create compelling user interface designs for the Bank's digital channel user experiences across desktop, mobile, tablet, and other platforms.

  • Collaborate closely with user experience team to construct optimal user experiences for customers following user centered design best practices.

  • Produce best-in-class interaction designs and help shepherd them from concept through launch collaborating with multi-discipline teams, product managers and technology.

  • Fluent in UCD best practices for information architecture and interaction design in online, mobile, tablet, and ATM

  • Prototype rapidly and iteratively to identify experience issues and to drive toward elegant simplified design solutions

  • Practical in meeting project timelines while focusing on larger vision required to build an outstanding UI

  • Experienced in integrating analytics and data into design strategy and approach

  • Communicate design concepts to colleagues, leadership, clients and external partners

  • Documentation of software & media designs through sketches, diagrams, written text, scenario/storyboard development, rule sets/logic flows, wireframes, annotations and any other means for communicating design intent and details

  • Work effectively with Risk, Legal, and Compliance to ensure compliance.

  • Assist with establishing and refining Bank design systems/processes that provide for agility, nimbleness and quality in meeting partner needs and designing successful digital channel solutions.

  • Create multiple design comps and ideas within a set period of time; Passion for design exploration while thorough understanding of design systems and style guides/standards to build the brand

  • Experienced in integrating analytics and data into design strategy and approach

  • Facilitate and streamline the design process

  • Develop and maintain style guides, technical specs, inventories and taxonomies

  • Ability to organize and structure disparate information

  • Practical in meeting project timelines while focusing on larger vision required to build an outstanding UI

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 6 years of experience in the field

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, OmniGraffle, Sketch, InVision, Axure and other major software applications

  • Deep knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

  • Fluent in UCD best practices for design in desktop, mobile, tablet

  • Portfolio of work that demonstrates web and/or mobile and demonstrates a variety of styles

  • Ability to rapidly prototype design solutions for both and testing purposes

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interface, or related field.

Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of and experience designing compelling digital experiences aligned to financial services products.

  • Complete understanding of human / computer interaction paradigms as it relates to online and mobile devices.

  • Successfully launched digital product into the marketplace.

  • Self-motivated, creative and passionate about designing a great digital channels customer experience.

  • Deep design sense and skillset coupled with passion for partnership, teamwork, execution.

  • Skilled in verbal and written communication as well as presentation skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a creative team

  • Ability to effectively communicate design ideas to both internal team and external partners

  • Self-motivated, with an ability to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage multiple assignments without close supervision

  • Strong design documentation skills
