Job Description Summary
Responsible for the overall design, implementation and
maintenance of the Business Intelligence (BI) infrastructure in the Group. Work
directly with business users and management to understand the needs, develop
and deliver business intelligence solutions to satisfy business goals and
strategic direction of the organization. Responsible for maintenance of the
most current documentation and enhancement roadmap. Directs the analysis and
creation of recommendations to optimize portfolio performance, product
optimization, banker profitability and efficiency by creating new tools for
reporting and analytics that will help guide the business toward responsible
Essential Job Functions
Design, develop, and deploy banker staffing model foreach channel in SME.
Perform quarterly staffing reviews with productionteams to help optimize staffing levels for improved efficiency and growth.
Design, develop and deploy banker P&L model for allchannels in SME.
Perform quarterly P&L reviews with productionleadership to help improve efficiency and growth.
“Productionalize” current KPI reports in an easy tounderstand format for key constituents SME Executive Leadership.
Support the use and deployment of current CRM platformand create “Sales Analysis” push messaging to production teams andexecutive leadership.
Analyzes financial projections related to new businessopportunities and other significant changes proposed to existing business.
Analyzes the results of new business and significantchanges subsequent to implementation.
Recommends strategic direction, new initiatives, andpotential enhancements to existing business activities, working inconjunction with product and line managers.
Develops mid-term and long-term goals and relatedmeasurement and reporting activities necessary to assess performance.
Presents recommendations to executive management.
Establishes research and monitoring tools.
Manages customer feedback data gathering andsynthesizes findings into actionable deliverables.
Establishes standard reporting, as well as ad-hocreporting.
Owns ongoing management reporting, including weekly,monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews.
Ensures that data infrastructure, including technologyplatform, reporting tools and the data itself, is sufficiently robust tosupport the current and emerging needs of the department and division.
Entails staying abreast of relevant data projectsacross the bank, best practices across the industry, and relevant new technicalinnovations.
Manages the prioritization of analytics and reportingprojects, ensuring that projects are prioritized to support the bank's topbusiness objectives.
Responsible for the overall design, implementation andmaintenance of the BI Infrastructure in coordination with best practicesand infrastructure standards.
Assist in monitoring of the ETL process to ensureperformance of the system and security of the data.
Work with source system users to develop processes andprocedures for entering information into the Business Intelligence Datamartand ensure reliability of information entered.
Develop BI metadata and models for standard, ad-hocreporting, analysis and management dashboards .
Participate in user requirement gathering, leading theprototype for all BI initiatives.
Lead the internal review process of reports, ad-hocqueries built by business users and identify duplicate calculations,filters etc. that can be built in the DataMart.
Maintain appropriate documentation for datamart and BIplatform.
Mentor other team members, including consulting oroutsourced resources as needed on BI architecture best practices.
Other Job Duties
Assist report designers in report development, testing,production and maintenance.
Identify re-engineering opportunities through researchand analysis of business and system process inefficiencies to ensure thecompany maintains a competitive advantage with information.
Understand existing BI/Analytics related productswithin Bank of the West and research technology opportunities and industrytrends in order to advise internal clients on the applicability andutilization of technology.
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer science or Management Information Technology or related field
Requires 12 years minimum prior relevant experience; experience in the designing, creating and manipulation of large Datamarts
Requires highest knowledge and mastery of multiple job areas typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Viewed as the leading expert and/or resource within the field by peers within and outside the organization.
Extensive experience in Data Modeling and Architecture.
Deep level of understanding of various relational database design concepts including relational and dimensional.
Experience with an Extract Transform and Load (ETL) tool.
Highly motivated individual with the ability to work effectively with business users and management to achieve business goals.
Ability to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing dynamic environment.
Detail oriented with excellent follow through.
