Job Description Summary

Bank of the West External Threat, Senior Intelligence Analyst conducts all-source analysis and target analysis to identify, monitor, assess, and help mitigate the threat posed by cyber actors against the Bank's information systems, critical infrastructure and cybersecurity interests. They support the Security Enterprise, the Intelligence Fusion Center, and other Bank equities with strategic assessments and provide tactical analysis and advice. Senior Analysts are intelligence professionals who apply their geopolitical and technical knowledge to solving complex intelligence problems, produce short-term and long-term written assessments, and inform Bank of the West security leadership and counterparts across the Bank's Security Enterprise. This work demands initiative, creativity, analytical skills, and technical expertise. The Senior Analyst will maintain and broaden their professional expertise through approved training, collaboration with peers, and attendance at professional meetings/conferences. As a subject matter expert, the position supports Bank of the West to achieve numerous security objectives, operational and regulatory goals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Incumbent responsibilities will include overseeing analysis and reporting on physical, criminal and cyber threats to Bank of the West, primarily in support of the Bank’s Intelligence Fusion Center mission. This work is accomplished through collection, research, and analysis of cyber, crime, geopolitical, and other intelligence-related data from a variety of sources to identify and evaluate patterns, and trends; preparing analysis and mitigation strategies from findings; interpreting and providing statistical information, via written and verbal presentations, for key Bank security and other leaders in geographic region and beyond. Analysis is distinguished by its emphasis on in-depth research and assimilation of data from many disparate sources, usually under tight time constraints, to craft a tightly-integrated written product for security leadership and counterparts across the Bank.

  • Researches, reviews, edits, plans, prepares, integrates and publishes complex all-source computer network operations national military intelligence studies, plans, and/or products.

  • Provides current and accurate information on emerging events and trends that could impact Bank of the West to tactical and strategic customers, from senior leaders to counterparts across and outside of the Bank.

  • Prepares reports that present findings, cite applicable policies, identify causative situations, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Develops innovative analytical approaches and validation of analytical conclusions. Prepares and coordinates intelligence assessments with short suspense and high-level attention.

  • Guides implementation of solutions as a representative of the interests of the Bank’s stakeholders.

  • Coordinates, monitors, and integrates valid intelligence while ensuring timely, comprehensive and accurate response. Identifies intelligence gaps, specifies collection requirements to fill gaps in information, evaluates resulting intelligence collected in response to requirements and determines analytical approach. Incumbent collaborates with other analysts and collectors at external partner organizations on intelligence analysis related matters.

  • Identifies significant trends within assigned subject-matter area and proposes new or revised analytical projects to alert decision-makers to new developments and to meet customer requirements. Develops and/or recommends complex analytical approaches to problems and situations for which data are incomplete, controversial, or for which no precedent exists.

Other Job Duties

  • Provides multi-intelligence analysis and fusion analysis integrating existing open-source products and databases to provide an enhanced level of information support.

  • Builds strong working relationships with stakeholders to understand data-driven processes and strategy.

  • Identifies relationships, trends/patterns in, or draws conclusions from assembled information using analytical principles, methodology, and statistical analyses.

  • Consults with other intelligence analysts and counterparts in Security to optimize production in response to requirements. Based on analysis of all available information, identifies gaps and recommends collection requirements.

  • Develops and maintains liaison with counterparts within Bank of the West and other partner organizations to discuss and coordinate intelligence production.

  • Maintains currency in both foreign and domestic advances and developments that relate to, or have a potential impact on, assigned subject-matter area.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Required Experience

  • Requires 7 years minimum prior relevant experience.


  • Bachelor's Degree Security studies, intelligence analysis, cybersecurity, business analysis or a mix of international and technical studies.


  • Requirements: Provide expert Intelligence Analysis in the collection, control and dissemination of intelligence information.

  • Anticipates problems and obstacles associated with moderately complex projects and proactively develop creative solutions to address them prior to implementation.

  • Expertise in the area of Operations Actions and Activities (OAA) may include Tactics/Techniques/Procedures (TTPs), experience in Interagency intelligence programs, asymmetric analysis, training events, and geopolitical familiarization.

  • Serve as a mentor to mid-level and entry-level intelligence analysts.

  • Outstanding writing skills with knowledge and understanding of intelligence analysis writing style (clear, effective, and brief).

  • Demonstrated experience with analytical tools/processes, Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access) and computer tools common to the IC, including Analyst Notebook, and Palantir; experience in research methods related to the social science discipline (quantitative, qualitative, and evaluation research).

  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex documents.

  • Knowledge of the application of this knowledge of a professional discipline such as international relations, current history, military science or political science.

  • Experience interpreting data, information, and issues to formulate logical conclusions and recommendations.

  • In-depth experience processing raw reporting, including technical data, and develops concisely written all-source analytic products for a wide range of intelligence consumers.

  • Works with functional teams within the Intelligence Fusion Center to analyze and refine program requirements and continuously coordinate with consumers to determine appropriate interpretation.

  • Experience participating in DoD joint and U.S. government inter-agency planning and intelligence Communities of Practice, as well as in-depth experience with DoD and U.S. government intelligence databases and information management systems.

  • Proven business acumen and ability to leverage databases to input data and extract trends from them; expertise in using mapping software to portray security/threat/intelligence trends.

  • Professional demeanor and strong relationship management skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal); proven ability to interact with and effectively support a wide range of consumers, up to and including senior leaders; excellent briefing skills and ability to synthesize large volumes of data quickly for multiple customer sets.

  • Proven ability to work independently with little to no direction; ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, to assess and meet deadlines, and to collaborate with analysts based in other regions to produce value-added intelligence analysis; ability to balance direction from supervisors in multiple locations.

  • Highly Desired Skills: Proven ability to build effective partnerships at all levels of the organization, including highly analytical stakeholders, in order to derive sophisticated requirements and evolve technical solutions; capability in articulating complex technical and functional requirements to technology implementers.

  • A team-oriented, collaborative attitude with the ability to foster cooperation between stakeholders, technical teams, and solution providers.

  • Experience generating intelligence products for direct support of operations and plans.

  • Understand the complexities of Bank of the West operations and be able to communicate effectively across multiple lines of business.

  • Foreign area knowledge gained through study, travel, or work-abroad highly desirable.

  • Understands adversaries' doctrine, objectives, and technical capabilities.

  • Understand nation state threat actor techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTP's). Has a firm grasp of network traffic / standard protocols (ex.

  • HTTP, SMTP, DNS), along with some familiarity with malware / performing basic dynamic malware analysis.

  • Understands and is able to articulate compliance associated with the Federal Bank Protection Act and other applicable federal, state and local regulations, laws and ordinances.

  • Ability and desire to learn about the Banking/Financial industry.
