Operations Associate - BWIS New Accounts Principal

Job Description Summary

Responsible for performing various operational activities within BancWest Investment Services’ Client Onboarding Team. A FINRA licensed Series 24 New Accounts Principal will enable the firm to meet service levels associated with reviewing new account applications and providing Principal review/approvals of the same. Associates will be expected to execute activities required to ensure compliance with the firm’s due diligence activities as required by various regulatory obligations including but not limited to anti-money laundering, OFAC sanction screening, US Patriot Act, etc. Knowledge of new account types, required documentation and know your customer obligations will be relied upon by the New Account Principal to process/approve complex new accounts and update existing accounts.

Please note that this position is not a banking position and requires specific experience typically obtained by working in a FINRA registered broker dealer.

Essential Job Functions

  • Review and approve new accounts.

  • Review data for completion of KYC/KYA, regulatory and firm requirements.

  • Use of various systems to perform data entry and validate data accuracy.

  • Issuing deficiencies for items not complying with requirements.

  • Review and approval of client account updates.

  • Review of data for completion of KYC/KYA regulatory and firm requirements.

  • Use of various systems to perform data entry and validate data accuracy.

  • Issuing deficiencies for items not complying with requirements.

  • Communicates clearly the process and requirements of the desk.

  • Collaborates with Advisors and other departments to assist with successful resolution of deficiencies

  • Maintains a working knowledge of unit policies, procedures, standards and workflow.

  • May act as an escalation point.

  • May assist in identifying operational improvements.

  • May review and analyze daily reports and make recommendations as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.




  • Series 7, 63 or 66, and 24 required.

  • Undergraduate degree preferred.

  • Requires 2 years minimum prior relevant experience in a New Accounts related role within a bank or broker dealer.

  • Communicates frequently with other departments and employees to resolve escalated issues.

  • Utilizes multiple systems and software applications to complete required research and tasks.

  • Retains accurate and appropriate supporting documentation.

  • Trains other employees as requested.

  • Performs quality assurance reviews or user acceptance testing as assigned.

  • Researches and resolves complex conditions.

  • Retains accurate and appropriate supporting documentation

Misc. Responsibilities:

  • Performs tasks assigned via workflow as necessary. Tasks may include, but not limited to, cashiering, transfers, new account activities.

  • Completes checklist associated with work activities to document completion of required procedures.

  • Identifies risk and esclates as necessary to allow for proper risk mitigation.

  • Familiarity working with back office systems (e.g. Pershing NetX360, Envestnet, etc.) is preferred.
