Job Description Summary

The First Mortgage Processing Team Lead is responsible for coaching all aspects of residential loan processing for their specific team. The Team Lead provides leadership, guidance and support to a team of mortgage loan processors. Direct coaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, review of daily and monthly productivity metrics and overall pipeline management. This includes but is not limited to -- total funded units, end to end cycle times, pipeline prioritization, loan quality results, proactively managing issues and escalating to management as necessary and adherence to all other departmental SLA's

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensures team loan pipeline is consistently up to Standards of Performance as outlined by Ops Manager.

  • Effectively coaches the team pipeline to ensure all cycle time and SLA objectives are met and or exceeded.

  • Holds every colleague on their team accountable for results including compliance and all metrics set forth by management.

  • Ensures all colleagues on their team operate in accordance with the established workflow.

  • Provides colleagues honest and clear feedback regarding strengths, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Provides weekly/monthly coaching and guidance for colleagues so they can improve their performance.

  • Serves as a first point of contact for all escalated matters.

  • Demonstrates the ability to build alignment and commitment within and across functions to achieve common goals.

  • Participates in weekly deep dive pipeline meetings with fulfillment supervisor/manager.

  • Works closely with sales and closing to ensure pipelines are moving as expeditiously as possible. Communicates regularly with Loan Officers regarding team loan transactions. Resolves non-routine inquiries to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Communicates regularly with Area Sales Managers (ASM) regarding changes in the industry and operations center to ensure smooth flow between MB's and employees in operations center. Maintains quality/quantity standards.

  • Keeps informed of trends and developments in local real estate markets as well as changing rules/regulations pertaining to both private, insured mortgages, FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA and RD, RESPA, HMDA, Fair Lending Practices and all compliance regulations.

  • Must have a strong knowledge of complex income situations

  • Other duties as/or assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Requires advanced knowledge within a specific discipline typically gained through extensive work experience and/or education.

  • Requires 5 years minimum First Mortgage Processing or First Mortgage Underwriting experience.

  • May require vocational or technical education in addition to prior work experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of lending processes, loan principles, loan systems

  • Must have good organizational and leadership skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to complete processes and meet deadlines

  • Must have the capability to do the work of the group

  • Ability to deal effectively with people in various job capacities

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skill

  • Serves as primary processor back up when colleagues are out of the office and works directly with team supervisor to ensure all work is covered daily.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Skills

  • Thorough verbal and written communication skills.

  • Typing of 40-45 WPM.

  • Knowledge of 10-key, calculator.

  • Photocopier and fax machine.

  • Maintains filing system.

  • Math and analysis.

  • PC Proficiencies with Windows based software in Word, Outlook and Excel.
