Job Description Summary

The SBA (inside) Business Development Officer

(iBDO) is responsible for generating SBA loans for the Regional Banking Group.

This role works in partnership with Branch Managers and other banking sales

staff to establish new SBA loans and business relationships. The position is

also responsible for originating and funding SBA loans in designated regions of

the bank’s footprint. The annual loan production objectives are generally upwards

of $10 million.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and implements marketing activities within thebudgetary constraints established by the SBA Regional Manager.

  • Works with the Regional Manager and internal leadershippartners to develop and implement marketing plans.

  • Generates new business through prospecting, establishinginternal banking partnerships, and outside networks and referrals sources.

  • Maintains a referral source database for all marketingpurposes.

  • Makes a substantial number of daily calls on internalpartners, centers of influence (COIs) and prospective clients.

  • Works to foster new and expand existing customerrelationships through cross-selling products and services.

  • Maintains and applies a thorough understanding of thebank’s credit policy, SBA eligibility and all necessary business practicesto ensure the submission of accurate and complete loan applicationpackages.

  • Provides management with competitive feedback regardingcurrent policies and practices.

  • Actively participates in local SBA district functionswith assigned marketing area.

  • By year-end, achieves 100% of established annualproduction objectives (APO) that will be determined at or near thebeginning of every year.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and/orequivalent work experience

  • 5 years SBA 7(a) business development experience or more,specifically 5 years SBA Business Development work experience with a financecompany/bank (experienced and knowledgeable in originating SBA7a and SBA 504 loan products)

  • Experience establishingreferral networks of commercial real estate brokers, commercial real estatedevelopers, accountants, lawyers, and commercial banking professionals

  • Possesses a level ofcredit skills necessary to determine an appropriate loan structure and able toassess credit risk of a potential customer

  • Excellent verbal,written and presentation skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong technical and documentation skills (proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to learn and embrace technologythat is utilized in the organization process
